First Rain Showers... My Experience with the start of Monsoon in Pune

I was seated at my desk, when a friend of mine invited me for an evening tea down at the "tapri". As I stepped out of the office I realized that the clouds had captured the entire sky up to the horizon. Winds were blowing on the face and the atmosphere was perfect for a long drive on a road that never ends!
As soon as we finished our tea and a little gossip, it started to drizzle; thundering at a distance was shouting on us to go back to office… and be safe from the start of MONSOON!!! By the time I reached back, I was just blessed by the sprinklings of the start of monsoon, but in next 5 minutes, the entire scene had changed. There was pitch darkness outside, heavy downpour and glass breaking thunders… The view outside my window was scaring people. Someone shouted… "Today it will take at least 2 hours to reach home" someone else commented… "This rain is certainly not going to stop soon" another exclaimed... "How will I go home, its raining so heavily!"
We all took another short break admiring the rains. Trees were swaying to and fro. The rain drops were splattering on the window pane and the sound of rain drops were audible in the enclosed office. It was certain that the monsoon had set in Pune, and with a very heavy downpour.
It continued to rain heavily for long time… till time to go home. I called my roommate to ask him how long should we wait (hoping that he says: Lets go!!!) but he wanted to wait till the rains slowed down. Finally he too gave in and met me at the gate. It was like a drive in heaven: Water hitting us on face, wind blowing and water splashing from ground by the wheels of cars passing by.
The same old road to home looked so different. The same trees looked as if glisters were sparkled on them; the same traffic noise seemed to have died out in the sounds of water splashes; the roads smelled wet mud in steady the old stink; the dust in the air was seen trapped in the puddles of water… the air seemed so pure and fresh. Over the Hinjewadi flyover, it was like flying over the sky, and the down climb of it was like reaching hell… There was a traffic jam :-( Somehow we dodged the cars and came out of traffic on our lane, free from the jam. Sudden increase in speed send a chill down my spine and my roommate noticed it. He sped the bike throughout the lane, giving me the "best of rides till now" expedience!!
Reached home, fully drenched only to have hot tea with "pakodas", with breeze coming from our balcony and creating an intoxic environment.
It was certainly the best of the start of monsoons ever…
