As a part of Outreach, we had gone to a Secondary and a Pre-primary school on 10th July, 2010 to Velhe and Bhor (about 50kms from Pune). We distributed ab
out 250 bags and 800 books to kids who are dedicated to studies in true sense... I say this,
because they walk about 1hr 30mins
every day to reach school
from their villages!!! I would quote this as definition of DEDICATION.
After sleeping at 2am on Friday night, you can't wake up at 6am, if you have to go to office, but
you will wake up for a trip. I thought the same and boarded the bus at 7:15am to start a journey
into a new world...
There was unseen scenic beauty...
And more of nature's bliss... playing hide and seek with hills, valleys, curves, turns and valleys
And what more you would ask for when it rains!!! (and how much will you pray when wipers don't work on a hilly ride)
After a beautiful ride into the heart of nature, we realized that we were disconnected from the outside world - There was no mobile network (no Reliance, TATA, nor BSNL!!!) But it was necessary to be absorbed in the nature and not be disturbed by any Credit card or loan sellers.
At last we reached our destination #1 ... the only secondary school of that area. There were 3 classes (Std. 8, 9 and 10). We divided amongst ourselves and a group went into each class. Talked to them, played with them and finally distributed books and bags, with chocolates as bonus!
I was in class 8, and the students were so smart! they knew Computer, Mobile, Bluetooth, President, almost full form of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said a couple of Marathi proverbs with meanings. One could even recite tables of 31 and 29, as if they were written in front of him. We had 3 girls from Kolkata amongst us, so one of them located their home town on an Indian map.
Here we are with the boys of that school, girls had a Physical Training class, so missed the photo, but they were so shy, I doubted, if they would otherwise also come in.
We then proceeded to our next destination, Pre-primary school at Bhoir, dropping students on the way, to save them a long walk.
Here, there were small kids, from class 1 to 7. Each of them, sang a song/poem for us! We distributed books to them too.
Finally we returned home, satisfied for doing something for the community. Every one enjoyed every moment of the trip, specially the hooting in the Katraj tunnel :-P
