Finally... Hyderabad!!!

I have wished to visit Hyderabad since a long time now and had made plans too (couple of times) but as rightly said: How much ever you plan, it doesn't happen till "the time is right" !! On one fine lucky day, while musing myself on my ride to office, I got a call from a "God-send" person, who asked me if I could visit Hyderabad office to conduct a training. I have always liked to teach and this was in Hyderabad, how could I deny?? I instantly agreed and called up my two buddies in Hyderabad, that finally the wait is over and its time for ... " Finally Hyderabad!!! " :-) Finally, on THE DAY, before leaving office on Wednesday (13th July), I had to manage many work dependencies and make arrangements for my 2 days absence in office. Finally, on the way to Hyderabad, I came to know that this day will be marked in Blood Red in history of Mumbai... There were 3 serial blasts in Mumbai, in most crowded places of the city, at 7pm, when innocent working cl...

A Pathway to Paradise...

Mumbai - Pune Expressway at 7:30am on 27th Dec. 2010! As every Monday, today I woke up early (may be for the last time) from my sweet old little bed, in which I don't fit in from toe to hair . After a heavy yummy breakfast by mommy, I left for Pune. Luckily, today I the seat next to the driver in the cab, since uncle has to go to Shirdi. Also behind me there were no cold blooded person, who asks me to close the window Yippeee!!!! Cold Air rushing through the glass and start of my routine journey, which then turned out to be " pathway to paradise " after we crossed Panvel. No sooner we hit the Mumbai Pune Expressway, the scene changed. My half-sleep filled eyes became wide open, as I see our cab being engulfed in a white blanket of fog! Such dense fog that, while driving in the middle lane, the side railings on the road are barely visible. Then comes a tunnel – all fog has disappeared, yellow lights filling the tunnel and sleep back in my eyes. But from the corner of my c...

Outreach to Velhe... Out of this world into the valley of hope

As a Corporate Social Responsibility, Cognizant has two projects: "Go Green" initiative launched in 2008 focused on energy conservation, recycling, and responsible waste management "Project Outreach" supports schools and orphanages through more than 400 initiatives reaching more than 200,000 children worldwide As a part of Outreach, we had gone to a Secondary and a Pre-primary school on 10 th July, 2010 to Velhe and Bhor (about 50kms from Pune). We distributed ab out 250 bags and 800 books to kids who are dedicated to studies in true sense... I say this, because they walk about 1hr 30mins every day to reach school from their villages! !! I would quote this as definition of DEDICATION. After sleeping at 2am on Friday night, you can't wake up at 6am, if you have to go to office, but you will wake up for a trip. I thought the same and boarded the bus at 7:15am to start a journey into a new world... And Round the corner... There was unseen scenic beauty... And...

Semi Annual Pilgrim Visit

This blog is a little more than my usual “semi-annual” pilgrim. A few things at office before I started the trip explained in the first few paras, explain a few things that happened to me for the first time J ... Read on... Finally... I got to experience something that I longed for about 4 years now... I got to work in a night shift. Yes, yes, I am one of those crazy freaks who have never worked in night shifts till now, and are crazy to experience it. All those who have gone to that trauma (and are going through) would love to switch places with me, but sorry I didn’t want that forever, I just wanted to “EXPERIENCE” it J I had to guide a team of 2 new joinees in their project, which was in a soup. What I actually had to do is do the “confident talks” with the client :-P and build trust in them about what we were doing was correct – again my first experience in being assigned such a duty. I was in office for about 22 hours in office on Wednesday (16 th June, 2010) i.e. from 9...

First Rain Showers... My Experience with the start of Monsoon in Pune

I was seated at my desk, when a friend of mine invited me for an evening tea down at the " tapri ". As I stepped out of the office I realized that the clouds had captured the entire sky up to the horizon. Winds were blowing on the face and the atmosphere was perfect for a long drive on a road that never ends! As soon as we finished our tea and a little gossip, it started to drizzle; thundering at a distance was shouting on us to go back to office… and be safe from the start of MONSOON!!! By the time I reached back, I was just blessed by the sprinklings of the start of monsoon, but in next 5 minutes, the entire scene had changed. There was pitch darkness outside, heavy downpour and glass breaking thunders… The view outside my window was scaring people. Someone shouted… "Today it will take at least 2 hours to reach home" someone else commented… "This rain is certainly not going to stop soon" another exclaimed... "How will I go home, its raining so heavi...

New Year, from this New City, in a New Company.

It was so exciting to move to a new place in the start of a new year, actually a new decade!! Things were going to change (for GOOD… na BETTER… nahhh.. for the BEST!!! ) I had decided to change the Company I work for, city I live in and the work that I do. Moving from Development to Performance Testing CoE… in short… “There was a lot of excitement in store” But… all had to start with a small bump in my health… 1st week was not over and I felt home sick!!! I was not liking Pune, inspite of its wonderful climate! But things eased out as I returned from home over my 1st weekend. I moved from Cognizant guest house to a rented place… Where my roomies share the same tastes and wavelenght :-D I got adjusted to the lifestyle (and more important food of our canteen!!! :-P ) The experince (err… experiment) with new city, new company new work in the new year is proving to be exciting and more important… educative!
